“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.” – George Eliot
The design of the guest room for the 2017 Traditional Home Napa Valley Showhouse represents Jean Liu Design’s debut into the exciting world of showhouse design. This sitting room was created for the daughter of a wine maker, whose parents had moved from various places beginning in Europe before settling in Napa Valley. Jean Liu Design drew inspiration from the bright blue skies and the yellow vines of autumn of the area and carried out the room in an indigo and saffron color palette. Old and new furnishings represent the varied life of this winemaker’s daughter and the vintage Louis Vuitton steamer trunk her travels. The Lawrence Lee painting “Dream Supreme” represents the owner’s love for animals, as she had worked as a zoo keeper, once upon a time. The textiles by Zak + Fox, Seemakrish and Homelosophy provide the room a sophisticated and timeless look, making it a welcome retreat from a busy day for this homeowner.
