“A taste for the beautiful is most cultivated out of doors.”
― Henry David Thoreau
Guided by a lifelong love of nature and the outdoors, these clients elected to build their dream house on a heavily treed lot. Their request to both the architects and Jean Liu Design was the creation of a home that incorporated their appreciation for nature in a modern way. Architectural notes include floor to ceiling windows that provide proximity to the outdoors and showcase the mature trees, a lush courtyard located off the master bedroom, and a series of custom steel planters that are cultivated as an herb garden. To complement this outside in lifestyle, Jean Liu Design approached the interior design through the same lens employing a peaceful color palette that includes leaf green accents. Other touches include a subtle raindrop patterned wallpaper by Schumacher for the powder room, branching chandeliers by Moooi for the dining room and the use of natural fiber and wood elements throughout the home.
