Having spent the better part of a decade working in her family’s business, Jean decided to take a calculated risk and turn her love for design and antiques into her own business. In 2007, she established Jean Liu Design and began specializing in residential interiors.
Jean Liu Design partners with clients to “create homes, not houses” and to transform “spaces into places.” She and her team provide each client the acumen needed to deliver each project on time and within budget, the talent to create beautiful, personal and modern environments, and the network of artisans and sources to ensure that all is made as well as it looks.
In 2014, after taking a brief detour back into the family business to integrate a newly acquired outdoor furniture company, Jean decided to write her own chapter—Stori Modern. Her adventurous spirit tugged away at her to apply the lessons (and scars) she got during this unexpected venture and apply them to her own line of furniture. Stay tuned to find out how this Stori unfolds.
When Jean isn’t designing, hunting for antiques, or telling her next Stori, she spends time with her wonderfully Southern friends in their never-ending quest for the perfect chicken fried steak. Jean has finally decided her 10th marathon is best run in her dreams and has instead, rediscovered yoga--her favorite pose is the child’s pose. But most importantly, Jean strives to redefine the role of “tiger mom,” as she raises her daughter, Miss Cricket, who plays the piano…occasionally under extreme protest.
